Memes on the thought of 2008
Go to your journal's calendar view. Click on the first post you made in each month of this year, and post the first line or couple lines of it. That's your year in review!

January
I think I entered 2008 throwing coats off the coat rack trying to find mine. Then I went outside into the cold and watched the neighbor's fireworks and said, "Why aren't we friends with those people?"

February
SNOW DAY!! HA!
I'd say we got the expected eight inches. It's all white and pretty outside. Later, I'm going to make a snowman. :D

March
Got my hair cut Friday. No more rattiness and split ends, and it still smells nice. :) Plus, I got to see Brandie.

April
I am trying out for American Idol.

May
Well, I finished my Astronomy booklet. Some of the data is questionable, and the gravity and density are different for almost every planet, and my habitability reports have more detail than the other ones, and the whole thing’s kind of inconsistent. But at least it looks pretty.

June
Yesterday me and Ashley went to the Renaissance Faire.

July
[picture post] [first caption] Nathan and Laila sing their song.

August
So I'm sitting here with my BFF Ashley on my couch at like two-something in the morning.

September
Went to my grandparent's farm for Labor Day weekend, Sunday and Monday, and had a real good time.

October
[meme first] Party planning is slowly chugging along. No longer have that English paper to worry about, but I still have career journals and a test to study for in Biomed.

November
Last night me and a bunch of friends went to the Tivoli for a midnight audience participation showing of The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
I've never seen so many boustiers, fishnets, and heels in one place before.

December
MMOSH was, once again, crazy fun.

So, this year, I wondered why I am not friends with the neighbors have fireworks for every holiday, had a snow day, got my hair cut, attempted an April Fool's Day prank, had a stressful project for an otherwise fun class, went to a Renaissance Faire, attended a writer's workshop and made friends, hung out with Ashley and went to a Breaking Dawn release party, visited my relatives, stressed out about my birthday, stressed about schoolwork some more, saw the Rocky Horror Picture Show in the middle of the night in theatre full of loud scantily dressed people, and did the MMOSH scavenger hunts.

Apart from the stressy bits, sounds like fun.

1: What fandoms did you acquire in 2008?
Twilight, Anita Blake, Watchmen, Fringe, Dr. Horrible, Frasier, I got back into Artemis Fowl and started watching more M*A*S*H reurns
2: What fandoms did you let go of in 2008?
There are lots of shows that I love, but just don't watch because of time constraints or scheduling conflicts: Sarah Connor Chronicles, Reaper, Eli Stone, Ugly Betty. I'm terribly behind on Life and Burn Notice too, and never watched the 24: Redemption movie.
3: What fandoms did you mean to get into but didn't in 2008? Why?
I got season one of Buffy the Vampire Slayer back in 07 and enjoyed it, but I never got season two until just this Christmas. So I didn't watch that like I planned to.
4: What fandoms do you intend on checking out in 2009?
I guess I'll continue Buffy, maybe even finish. There'll be all the new shows, like Dollhouse. Maybe I'll finally pick up the Battlestar Galactica DVDs, or watch The Dresden Files, or actually find out what's going on in the Stargate shows. I'd like to actually watch an episode of Flight of Conchords, I do like their music. I hear The Mentalist is good, I'll probably check out an episode of that.
5: What fandoms do you think you might let go of in 2009 unless things significantly improve?
I don't really let go of fandoms. I let them hibernate if I'm busy with other ones, but I don't let them go.
6: What fandoms do you think you'll never let go of no matter how crappy they get?
I STILL BELIEVE IN YOU, HEROES!!
7: What show impressed you most in 2008?
Supernatural has been really good this season. I love the inclusion of the angels to balance out the demons.
8: What show impressed you least in 2008?
I'd have to say 24, if only because I didn't watch it. xD

1.) Where did you begin 2007?
Watching the fireworks our neighbors have every year. I don't know who they are, but these fireworks show up every New Years and Fourth of July, and they're in the same part of the sky. I want to find these people and befriend them.

2.) What was your status on Valentine's Day?
I think our Internet was down that week.

3.) Were you in school (anytime this year)?
Oh yeah.

4.) How did you earn your money?
$10 a week in allowance, sometimes more for extra laundry duty.

5.) Did you have to go to the hospital?
No. I think I had a doctor's appointment at some point, but just a check up. I don't even remember visiting anybody or going to see mom at work.

6.) Did you have any encounters with the police?
Only in relation to MMOSH. They pulled up at the rendezvous points and were just like "Okay, you kids skedaddle".

7.) Where did you go on vacation?
I went to a writer's workshop in Carbondale, IL, but that's it.

8.) What did you purchase that was over $1000?
The most expensive thing I got this year was Tobias the laptop, and he was only about $700.

9.) Did you know anybody who got married?
Hmm, don't think so. My brother's girlfriend's sister got married over Thanksgiving weekend, but I haven't met her before.

10.) Did you know anybody who passed away?
In real life? No, I think we stayed pretty alive. Some kid at my school died of spontaneous heart failure during wrestling practice, but I didn't know him. There was a memorial sign on a locker in the math hallway, and it said "Gone To Soon", and it bugged me every time I walked past it. Thankfully, someone changed the sign.

11.) Was anyone born?
Kaden. I planned a lot of his baby shower, and haven't even seen him yet.

12.) Did you move anywhere?
Nope.

Took some friends to Six Flags, which was outrageously expensive but really fun.

Weird Al Yankovic

15.) Are you registered to vote?
I did turn 18, but I have no interest in politics.

16.) Who did you want to win Big Brother?
I don't watch reality shows. I used to watch Who Wants To Be A Superhero? on the Sci-Fi channel, but it didn't get picked up for another season. And I did watch the audition episodes of America's Got Talet because I was watching the commercials and thought I saw the sword swallower from the renaissance faire. It wasn't him.

18.) How did you spend your summer break?
Went to writing camp, wrote a lot, watched copious amounts of X-Files and Firefly to prepare for I Want To Believe and Can't Stop the Serenity, read Shadows Return, went to a midnight release party for Breaking Dawn

19.) What's one thing you thought you'd never do but did in 2007?
Stay up for 25 hours straight.

20.) What has been your favorite moment?
I loved the Young Writer's Workshop. That's one of the greatest experiences of my life.
But if you want a more specific moment, I loved this.
Nick Lovins: [walks into my Journalism class dressed as Santa Claus] "Mr. Holmes, what do you want for Christmas?"
Mr. Holmes: [not looking up from his computer] "A new compound bow."

21.) What's something you learned about yourself?
Just how emotionally fragile I am.

22.) Any new additions to your family?
Soozi and Lily.

23.) What was your worst month?
October, November, and December have all been pretty stressful.

24.) What music will you remember 2007 by?
"Dead or Alive" by Bon Jovi
"Big Empty" by Stone Temple Pilots
"Train in Vain" by The Clash
"Pork and Beans" by Weezer
"Come on Eileen" by Dexy's Midnight Runners
"Broken" by UNKLE
The sountrack to Dr. Horrible's Sing-A-Long Blog

I don’t intend to ever drink.

26.) Made new friends?
Yes, several!

I did a lot of late night activities. I had a really great time seeing Rocky Horror at midnight.

32.) Other than home, where did you spend most of your time?
School.

33.) Change your hairstyle?
No.

34.) Have any car accidents?
Missy did accidentally back into a guy's car while we were all escaping the parking lot for MMOSH. Everything was fine.

35.) How old did you turn this year?
18!

36.) Did you have a New Year's resolution?
I think it was to write more, which I did.

37.) Do anything embarrassing?
I’m sure I did, but nothing comes to mind.

38.) Buy anything new from eBay?
No

No

Nope.

42.) Did you get sick this year?
I've had some annoying canker sores this week.

43.) Been snowboarding?
No.

44.) Are you happy to see 2008 go?
Sort of. I'll graduate and go to college in 2009, so I'm anxious about the future.

45.) Been naughty or nice?
I’m a good girl. :)

I've had a good year. There was stuff I really stressed about and I didn't get as much done as I really wanted to, but I had a lot of very fun times and I think I know where I'm going.

New Year's Resolution: Write the pilot for The Corriander Conspiracies. (And update that site more often.) I might do it as part of Scrip Frenzy, which is essentially NaNoWriMo for scripts, but it looks like I'll have a pretty busy April. Maybe I'll do that for my rough draft, and then polish it over the summer.
